Renukaswamy murder case: Bengaluru court denies bail to Darshan, Pavithra

Bengaluru: A city court on Monday (October 14) denied bail to Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his friend Pavithra Gowda in the in the Renukaswamy murder case.

Darshan and Pavithra are currently lodged in judicial custody in the murder case of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, who was a fan of the actor. It has been alleged that deceased Renukaswamy was abducted from his hometown Chitradurga and was tortured to death allegedly by Darshan and other accused persons.

Darshan, Pavithra were arrested in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case on June 11.

Renukaswamy allegedly made derogatory comments against Pavithra

According to media reports, deceased Renukaswamy allegedly made derogatory comments against Pavithra, allegedly a friend of Darshan, on social media, which allegedly enraged Darshan. It has been alleged that Renukaswamy’s alleged provocation led to his murder. The post-mortem report of deceased Renukaswamy revealed that he died due to shock and haemorrhage as a result of multiple blunt injuries. Renukaswamy’s body was found near a stormwater drain on June 9.

Police sources earlier told news agency PTI that Pavithra, who is accused number one in the case, was the “major cause” for the murder of Renukaswamy, claiming that the investigation has proved that Pavithra instigated other accused, conspired with them, and took part in the crime.

Bengaluru Police filed a 3,991-page preliminary charge sheet on September 4

The Bengaluru Police on September 4 had filed a 3,991-page preliminary charge sheet in the Renukaswamy murder case, which comprised statements of 231 witnesses and technical and electronic evidence. The names of 56 police officers are also there in the charge sheeet as the witnesses in the case. The Bengaluru Police earlier said in a statement that the chargesheet in the case has been filed on the basis of the eye-witnesses accounts and circumstantial, technical, scientific and other evidence collected during the investigation of the case.
