The State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest public sector bank, has introduced the ‘Nation First Transit Card,’ offering customers unprecedented convenience in digital ticketing for metro rides, bus journeys, and parking services. This innovative card is designed to simplify daily commuting and transform the way people access transportation services.
The ‘Nation First Transit Card’ operates on advanced RuPay and National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) technology, reflecting SBI’s commitment to national development and the enhancement of transportation experiences. Dinesh Kumar Khara, Chairman of SBI, emphasized that this card aligns with a broader national vision to improve the ease of doing business and make everyday life more convenient for customers.
SBI Unveils ‘Nation First Transit Card’ for Streamlined Metro, Bus, and Parking Payments
Notably, the NCMC-based ticketing solution is currently being deployed in the MMRC Metro Line 3 and Agra Metro, with plans for it to become available to the general public in the near future. SBI has actively participated in the NCMC program in collaboration with transit operators since 2019. In the past, the bank has introduced several successful transit cards, including the ‘City1 Card,’ ‘Nagpur Metro MHA Card,’ ‘Mumbai1 Card,’ ‘GoSmart Card,’ and ‘Singara Chennai Card.’
As India’s largest public sector bank, SBI boasts a home loan portfolio exceeding Rs 6.53 lakh crore, with a deposit base of over Rs 45.31 lakh crore as of June 2023. The bank’s robust presence extends to home loans, with a market share of 33.4%, and auto loans, commanding a 19.5% market share. With the introduction of the ‘Nation First Transit Card,’ SBI continues to lead the way in enhancing customer convenience and facilitating national development through innovative banking solutions.
