‘See you in God’s Own Country sometime soon’: Shashi Tharoor invites Coldplay to Kerala

New Delhi: Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor has invited Coldplay to perform in his home state Kerala as the UK band wrapped an incredible India tour with massive gigs in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, drawing millions of people at the concerts some of which were even livestreamed.

Tharoor’s call came after the band’s spectacular concluding concert at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad that also saw ace Indian bowler Jadprit Bumrah attending the event and getting a special shout-out on camera from Coldplay’s vocalist Chris Martin.

“Touched to see our very own Jasprit Bumrah get a shout-out from Chris Martin. What’s more, I agree! Coldplay’s five-day run in India at Mumbai and Ahmedabad has been absolutely phenomenal. Hoping Kerala gets its chance to host these grand-scale shows too! With our beauty, unmatched hospitality, and that special vibe, we’d be the perfect hosts. See you in God’s Own Country sometime soon,” the Congress MP said in a post on X tagging Kerala Tourism.

Coldplay India tour

Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour in India concluded with two sold-out concerts in Ahmedabad over the weekend, leaving fans spellbound.

The grand finale on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium was a standout moment, drawing a crowd of over 1 lakh fans for the band’s largest-ever performance in India. Many attendees hailed the Ahmedabad shows as superior in scale and execution compared to the earlier concerts in Mumbai.

The tour began with back-to-back performances at DY Patil Sports Stadium in Navi Mumbai on 18 and 19 January, followed by another show on 21 January.

In a nod to Republic Day, the British rock band struck a patriotic chord with soulful piano renditions of ‘Vande Mataram’, followed by ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’, adding a memorable touch to their setlist.

Thank you Ahmedabad, thank you India. We’ll never forget these two weeks. Your love and kindness will stay with us forever 🤍 pic.twitter.com/vB4BfsfFKY
