Airtel Takes the Leap: Launches 5G Services Across All 22 Telecom Circles, in Sync With Reliance Jio
On August 17, Bharti Airtel made a significant stride in the Indian telecom realm by announcing its readiness to roll out 5G services across all 22 licensed telecom circles. This development positions Airtel alongside Reliance Jio in the race to establish 5G connectivity nationwide.
This announcement follows Reliance Jio Infocomm’s recent declaration of fulfilling the prerequisites to offer 5G services in all 22 telecom circles. The introduction of 5G services commenced in October of the previous year. At present, only two prominent telecom operators, namely Airtel and Jio, hold the distinction of possessing a 5G network within the country.
Airtel’s forward-looking stance holds strategic significance as it aligns with the changing landscape of telecommunications. This transformative step not only promises enhanced connectivity but also places India on the cusp of embracing the next generation of communication technology.
Amidst these dynamic developments, Bharti Airtel’s financial performance remains robust. In the first quarter of the financial year 2023-24, the company achieved a net profit (PAT) of Rs 1613 crore. Simultaneously, its revenue surged to Rs 37,440 crore, showcasing a noteworthy year-on-year growth of 14.1%. This revenue growth was underpinned by the Indian business segment, which achieved Rs 26,375 crore in revenue with a commendable growth rate of 13.1%. While the company’s overall revenue performance exceeded expectations, its earnings slightly missed the projections of experts.
The synchronized efforts of Airtel and Reliance Jio to introduce 5G services exemplify their commitment to transforming India’s technological landscape, ensuring citizens access cutting-edge connectivity solutions.
