Viagogo, the global platform for sports ticketing, has witnessed jaw-dropping ticket prices for the upcoming India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup match on October 15 at Ahmedabad Stadium. A single ticket, placed in the South Premium West Bay, fetched a staggering ₹19,51,580. Fans were left astounded by the exorbitant prices on Viagogo, especially after experiencing long waiting times on BookMyShow, where tickets for this highly anticipated clash sold out within minutes.
Viagogo Witnessing Record-Breaking Ticket Prices
Interestingly, when comparing ticket prices for other matches, such as the England vs New Zealand fixture scheduled for October 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the rates were considerably lower. Tickets for this match were available in the South Premium West Bay section for ₹6000, with additional options priced at ₹1000, ₹1500, ₹2000, and ₹3000.
Comparing Ticket Rates
Notably, ticket prices for matches against other countries have also surged. The starting price for a ticket to the India vs England match in Lucknow is approximately ₹2,34,632, while the opening price for the India vs Afghanistan match at Arun Jaitley Stadium is ₹38,877. Category-A tickets come with a hefty price tag of ₹2,34,622.
Rising Ticket Prices Across the Board
Viagogo has emerged as another ticket-buying platform, offering ease of purchase and even home delivery for a fee of ₹400. However, ticket prices across the board have witnessed a significant spike. CricketNext lodged a complaint on BookMyShow regarding ticket sales through Viagogo, prompting BookMyShow to take action. The issue has been escalated to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 organizers.
Viagogo, founded in 2006, stands as the world’s largest secondary ticket marketplace, facilitating ticket sales for live sports, music, and entertainment events globally.
