Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched the ‘Chief Minister Charan Paduka Scheme’ as part of his preparations for the upcoming legislative assembly elections in November and the possibility of Lok Sabha elections next year. The scheme aims to benefit tendu leaf pickers by providing them with essential items like sarees, shoes, water bottles, and umbrellas. During a public event in Sarai, Singrauli district, CM Chouhan personally handed out shoes and slippers to the tendu leaf pickers, earning applause from the crowd.
Chief Minister Charan Paduka Scheme Launched to Benefit Tendu Leaf Pickers
Addressing the public, CM Chouhan highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting the poor through various schemes to provide relief to those in need. He emphasized that the ‘Chief Minister Charan Paduka Scheme’ would be implemented on a large scale to benefit the tendu leaf pickers. To ensure that everyone receives an umbrella, the state government will provide an additional Rs 200 for each person to purchase it separately.

During the same event, local residents also demanded that the “Bega” tribe be included in the list of the most backward tribes, and CM Chouhan announced their inclusion. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for the Rihand Micro Irrigation Project, a significant undertaking costing over Rs 672 crore, which will enable farmers from 126 villages to irrigate 38,000 hectares of land once completed.
