New Delhi: Anger is brewing among saints over delivery of non-veg food despite a ban in Vrindavan in UP’s Mathura. It has now been reported that Zomato has also started delivering non-veg food after Swiggy. Saints in Mathura claim ban on non-veg food by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is being openly flouted.
Meanwhile, saints and other religious figures threatened to take action against the two companies if they don’t stop delivering non-veg food items on their online platforms.
Saints hold meet to discuss violation
A meeting was held in Vrindavan by senior religious figures and saints seeking action against the food delivery companies through court. The saints said they will take the companies to court to stop the violations by them. .
Vrindavan is pilgrimage city and is revered for devotion to Lord Krishna. Lakhs of devotees come to the city to seek blessing of their deity. However, it is alleged that some devotees indulge in unethical practices when they come to visit the city. And some of these activities are abetted through online means including ordering non-veg food items.
Saints order non-veg food to check claims
Saints claimed that non-veg food items are being supplied in Vrindavan despite a ban by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Saints said they held a meeting on Thursday under the banner of Dharm Raksha Sangh.
It is alleged that non-veg food was delivered in the city online by Swiggy few days back. Following this delivery, the delivery boy reportedly left his job.
On Thursday, Saurabh Gaur, the national president of Dharma Raksha Sangh, ordered non-veg food through Zomato to check whether the non-veg food was indeed delivered by the platform. To his shock, the non-veg food reached him within 40 minutes. Later, the issue was raised among the saints during Dharma Raksha Sangh meeting.
