Who doesn’t like to kill those annoying ads while enjoying videos on YouTube? However, many YouTube users avoid getting the Premium subscription due to its hefty price. The streaming service app had introduced a cheaper version with a YouTube Premium Lite subscription, however, it was discontinued last year. Now, some reports suggest that YouTube is again testing this affordable option with limited ads.
YouTube confirmed to Android Authority that the company is again testing a new version of the YouTube Premium Lite subscription in selected countries such as Australia, Germany, and Thailand. The report suggests that YouTube will soon provide an option to eliminate ads without the need to go with the full Premium subscription. However, tipster Mukul Sharma suggests that it may soon roll out in India too.
YouTube Premium Lite: What’s Special About It?
If you are aware of the previous version of YouTube Premium Lite, then it was an option to avoid ads from the video streaming platform at half the price of the Premium subscription. However, the new version may have limited ads on normal as well as YouTube Kids, which will be almost negligible.
However, it may emit some other Premium features such as background video playback and video downloading. Plus, premium benefits may not apply to the YouTube Music app, a tipster suggested.
YouTube Premium Lite Price (Expected)
While the official details are still awaited, some users started receiving the option to get the YouTube Premium Lite version. Singer-songwriter Jonah Manzano has shared in a post on Threads that YouTube Premium Lite subscription in Australia costs $8.99 per month on the web, while the mobile version costs $11.99 per month.
The description of the Premium Lite new version mentions that “Most videos are ad-free, but you may see video ads on music content and Shorts, and non-interruptive ads when you search and browse.” It must be noted that the previous version didn’t have any ads at all.
However, the price for the YouTube Premium Lite in other countries or expectedly in India is still unknown, hence, we need to wait for the official details.
