The arrest took place in the Bhalswa Dairy area of Delhi following an investigation by the local police.
Delhi Man Arrested for Spreading False G20 Rumor on Social Media
The incident began when a social media post tagged DCP Outer North, alleging the presence of an auto driver heading towards Pragati Maidan with a firearm and ammunition. The post included a photograph of the said auto rickshaw, prompting immediate concern.
Arrest and Investigation
Upon receiving the report, law enforcement launched a thorough inquiry into the matter. It was determined that the auto in question belonged to Gurmeet Singh, a 50-year-old resident of SSN Park. However, further investigation led the police to 48-year-old auto driver Harcharan Singh, who explained that the vehicle was registered in his brother’s name and was primarily used for transporting cloth materials from the Chandni Chowk area.
Rumor Originates from Enmity
Harcharan revealed that he had an ongoing dispute with an individual named Kuldeep Sah, who resided in the same locality. Kuldeep was identified as the person responsible for concocting and posting the false social media message. The dispute between them revolved around the parking of the auto.
Security Measures
In a comprehensive security check of the auto, no suspicious items were discovered. Kuldeep Sah was apprehended at his residence and admitted to spreading false information. As a result, he faces legal consequences for his actions related to the G20 summit. Authorities have taken such incidents seriously, given the heightened security during the G20 summit preparations in the national capital.
