New Delhi: Former Chief Minister and Aaam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday urged the supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to vote for AAP in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
Kejriwal while narrating his interaction with a saffron party worker, said that Delhi voters, including the BJP supports here are likely to lose benefits worth Rs 25,000 every month if BJP comes to power.
“Government welfare schemes related to free electricity, free water, health and education will be discontinued in Delhi if BJP comes to power. Voters are set to lose benefits worth Rs 25,000 every month if AAP is not in power,” said Kejriwal.

“I told him (BJP supporter) to forget about politics, and think about himself and his family. What will happen to him and his family if AAP government’s welfare schemes are discontinued. He was satisfied and assured that he will vote for AAP in this election, but said he will not leave BJP,” added Kejriwal while talking about his interaction with a BJP worker.
AAP vs BJP vs Congress fierce contest in Delhi elections
Ruling AAP and BJP and involved in a fierce poll campaign in Delhi ahead of voting on February 5. Congress entry into the polls has added vigour to the contest. BJP has been targetting AAP over corruption and poor infra growth in the national capital over last ten years, AAP has focusses on showcasing its welfare schemes like free water and electricity.
While AAP is trying to maintain its victory records of last two elections, BJP is leaving no stone unturned to make a comeback after staying out of power for more than two decades in Delhi. Congress has so far far focused its campaign on development works during the 10 years of Sheila Dikshit government, while targetting Kejriwal over issues like corruption and poor development.
7 AAP MLAs quit party days ahead of Delhi polls
In a major setback for the AAP, seven of its sitting MLAs quit from the party on Friday alleging corruption in the party.
Sources said these MLAs were unhappy after being denied ticket for the assemby elections. Most of the MLAs shared their resignation letters on social media and slammed the AAP over corruption and other issues.
Later, the AAP said in a statement that some MLAs were denied tickets for the February 5 polls, leading to “dissatisfaction”. Over the last few weeks, under Kejriwal’s leadership, the party has given poll tickets to ordinary individuals from humble backgrounds, the statement said.
The AAP has replaced 16 of its incumbent MLAs with new faces for the February 5 polls.
Voting for 70 Assembly seats in Delhi will take place on February 5, while the counting of votes and announcement of results will take place on February 8.
