New Delhi: Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday made strong remarks against BJP and Congress, claiming that both parties have failed to serve the people of Delhi. He also addressed the issue of rising water bills in the capital, promising relief for the residents affected by incorrect charges.
Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal criticised BJP’s administration, saying that the party had not provided a clear vision for the future of Delhi. “Till now, BJP has neither a CM face, nor any narrative, nor any vision for Delhi about what they will do. In the last 10 years, BJP has done nothing except criticize the Aam Aadmi Party,” he said, accusing BJP of failing to act on any significant issues and only focusing on criticizing AAP.
Kejriwal promises to waive off ‘incorrect’ water bills
Kejriwal also made serious allegations regarding the increase in water bills, claiming that the people of Delhi had been receiving inflated and incorrect water bills. “When I went to jail, the BJP did something wrong, and suddenly, people’s water bills started increasing a lot,” Kejriwal said, suggesting that the rise in water bills happened coincidentally while he was in jail.
For those who have received inflated bills, Kejriwal assured them that they would not need to pay these bills. “People who feel their water bills are incorrect, people who feel their bills are in the thousands, they do not need to pay them. When the Aam Aadmi Party forms the government in Delhi again, we will get your bills waived. This is our promise,” he said, making a promise to forgive the erroneous water bills once AAP regains power in Delhi.
Congress, BJP should officially declare their alliance, says Kejriwal
Kejriwal further pointed out that Congress and BJP were only united in their opposition to AAP, even though the public had complete trust in his party’s leadership. “Let Congress protest. The public has full trust. Congress and BJP should openly announce that they are forming an alliance and fighting against Aam Aadmi Party,” he added.
The remarks come as Delhi is gearing up for assembly elections, with Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) expected to face competition from BJP and Congress.
