New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu addressed a joint session of Parliament, outlining the government’s major initiatives and future plans. She emphasized efforts to uplift the tribal community, improve education and employment opportunities for the youth, and provide better healthcare for senior citizens.
She announced a new scheme for tribal development, saying, “My government has started ‘Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan’ for five crore people of the tribal society.”
Reflecting on India’s democratic journey, she paid tribute to the Constitution makers. “Two months ago, we celebrated the 75 years of adopting our constitution and a few days ago, we completed our journey of 75 years. On behalf of all Indians, I bow down to Babasaheb Ambedkar and all others in the Constitution Committee.”
She also mentioned steps towards electoral reforms and amendments in Waqf laws. “The government has taken steps towards ‘One Nation, One Election’ and Waqf Amendment Bill.”
