New Delhi: A woman travelling in Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Express gave birth to a child on the train. After the train reached Samastipur station, the safe delivery of the baby was carried out under the supervision and care of Dr Payal Mishra of Railway Hospital.
Both the mother and the child are safe and healthy, said Dr Payal Mishra. According to the information, the woman, Rajni Devi, had left for Muzaffarpur while boarding a train from Barauni.
The woman started having labour pains after the train left Barauni. After this, her husband, who was accompanying her, informed the TTE and RPF. The information was passed on to 139 in the control room. The medical team led by Dr Payal Mishra swung into action and reached Samastipur station and ensured safe delivery of the child.
Later, the woman and her family left for her destination in the same train. The train was halted at the station until the delivery was completed.
A video shows the medical professionals asking the woman not to put the baby in wet clothes. They give her other instructions. It apparently is the second child of the woman. The doctors can be seen cutting the unbilical cord. They also ask the parents to provide more clothes for the baby, the video showed. The baby can be seen crying once, and the doctor holding the baby.
The father of the baby showered praises on the medical team and the prompt facility provided by them.
