Paschim Bardhaman : A woman, who was trying to escape from eve teasers, died in road accident in West Bengal’s Paschim Bardhaman district. The accused eve-teasers were chasing her in another vehicle. A resident of Chinsurah district, she was on her way to Gaya along with three of her colleagues.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 9:30 PM on Sunday. Two other persons who were also travelling with her, too suffered critical injuries. The victim and her collegues stopped their car at a petrol stationm when another car with five men started following them, the police said.
Accused passed lewd remarks towards victims: Police
“As soon as they got onto the highway, the men in the other car started making lewd remarks towards the victim and began driving recklessly,” news agency PTI quoted a police officer as saying.
The vehicle with five accused then allegedly blocked the deceased’s car in a dangerous way towards a road divider, which led to overturn. The the victim, who was sitting in front, suffered fatal injuries due to the accident.
Woman declared brought dead at hospital
She was soon rushed to a nearby hospital, where was declared brought dead. As per the police the alleged eve-teasers left their vehicle and ran away from the spot soon after the accident. While the both cars have been seized by the police, the police have also registered the case. The police have also started looking for the five accused in the case and are looking to nab them at the earliest.
Last month, the body of a missing class VIII student was found in a field in Basanti, South 24 Parganas district. The police suspected the minor girl was raped before being murdered.
After she went missing, her family members filed a missing person report. District police superintendent Palash Chandra Dhali confirmed recovering the body and stated that a probe is underway based on thecomplaint filed by her parents . The body was sent for post-mortem, news agency ANI reported.
