Kanpur: A woman police officer travelling to her in-laws’ house for Karva Chauth was brutally raped. The victim, a head constable with the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Police, was raped by a man who found her alone in a deserted area. The incident occurred in the Sen Paschim Para police station area of Kanpur. The officer, stationed in Ayodhya, was on her way to her in-laws’ home for Karwa Chauth when the attack took place. The assailant, a resident of the same village, has been arrested by the police and an investigation is underway.
On Saturday, while travelling from Ayodhya to her village in Kanpur, the officer, dressed in plain clothes, was walking along a deserted road near her destination. At that point, a young man forcibly dragged her into a field and raped her. Despite resisting and engaging in a fierce struggle with the attacker, she was unable to break free.

ACP Ghatampur, Ranjit Kumar, said that under cover of darkness, the accused took the officer into the field, tore her clothes and committed the crime. The suspect, identified as Dharmendra, alias Kallu, from a nearby village, has been arrested and is now in custody.
The victim told the police that she fought fiercely when the accused tried to drag her into the field. During the struggle, she bit one of the man’s fingers, breaking one of her teeth in the process. However, the attacker managed to overpower her and carried out the assault.

After her complaint, officers at the Sen police station launched an immediate search operation. Due to the head constable’s detailed description, including scars on the assailant’s face and his injured finger, the police were able to arrest him within hours. The suspect has since confessed to the crime.
