New Delhi: A woman constable has been dismissed from her service by the Punjab Police after being arrested for carrying 17.71 grams of heroin. The incident is reported in the Bathinda district. The action was taken on Thursday, just a day after she was arrested. Inspector General of Police Sukhchain Singh Gill mentioned that the constable, Amandeep Kaur, a resident of Chakk Fateh Singh Wala, was initially placed in Mansa but was allocated to the Police Lines in Bathinda when she was arrested. She was dismissed from duty under Article 311.
Gill highlighted that this dismissal along with the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann related to the ongoing war on drugs. He further mentioned that an investigation would be executed into any properties that Kaur may have obtained through criminal activities. He asserted that a necessary legal action would follow.
Amandeep was arrested during the ongoing state government anti-drug drive ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’. Performing a tip-off, police along with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) thwarted Amandeep Kaur’s SUV, a Mahindra Thar, near the Badal flyover in Bathinda on Wednesday evening, Deputy Superintendent of Police (City-1) Harbans Singh told.
Upon investigation, police found she had 17.71 gm of heroin with her, the officer said. Amandeep had grabbed the attention of senior officials with her well-maintained lifestyle. She often used to post reels with her Thar on Instagram where she has 30,000 followers.
Apart from this, it is known that upon being stopped for checking, Amandeep showed her WhatsApp messages, chats and photographs to show that she has close connections with a senior IPS officer.
