Mumbai: A woman claimed that Bharat Matrimony used her image without consent and even created a fake profile with it. She called out the matrimonial service through a video on Instagram. Netizens were shocked and many shared their experiences with “India’s most trusted” matrimony service.
Swati Mukund along with her husband appeared in a video to claim that a fake profile with her image had been found on Bharat Matrimony under its ‘elite’ subscription service. Mukund, who clarified that she had not used Bharat Matrimony to find her husband, went on to slam the service for its actions. She also highlighted that the matrimony service charges “pots of money” for their elite subscription. Mukund also questioned the company’s screening process. “How on earth are you doing it?” asked the annoyed woman. She concluded the video with a note of caution to the users of such matrimony services. “This is a reminder to all users to exercise discretion before using these apps, because what you see is not always what you get,” said Mukund.

Will have to be double careful to screen matches.” Many others shared their bad experiences while using the service. One said that the app sends interests to profiles on their behalf without their knowledge. Some talked about the fake profiles they came across while using the app.
Meanwhile, Bharat Matrimony responded to the video with an apology. They claimed, “We have suspended this profile and conducting a thorough investigation on how it got published.”
