Ahmedabad: Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Prahlad Joshi on Monday expressed confidence that the country will not only achieve its target on Renewable Energy but will even better it. The minister also expressed confidence that the country will get more investments in the field of renewable energy.
Speaking exclusively to TV9 Gujrati on the sidelines of the three-day Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet that started today, the minister said, “When PM Modi came to power in 2014, people were skeptical about renewable energy. However, PM Modi went to the international forum and committed. After this, the country not only achieved its target but did it before the target time. We will continue to achieve further.”

“The ongoing summit is very beneficial. We have set a renewable target of 500 gigawatts. I am fully confident that the country will achieve its target. The government has received full commitment from investors, be it investment, installing capacity or manufacturing, together we will surpass the target,” the minister added.
Goa CM invites investors in state
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, also speaking on the sidelines of the event, said that the state has formulated new reforms and policies in Goa on renewable energy. “In his speech today, PM Narendra Modi said that every state has something new. I invite global investors to invest in the state. Be it Surya Ghar Yojana, or Kusum Yojana, be it solar power, wind power, or free hydrogen, I welcome them to invest in these. We have formulated many reforms and policies in Goa.”
“Definitely. Why can’t there be collaboration, after the investment summit there can be collaboration in the states as well,” the chief minister said when asked whether Gujarat and Goa. There is good scope for Surya Ghar Yojana in Goa. The state government is already impaneling many contractors for solar energy., and the state government has also floated tenders on wind energy, he added further.
