Hyderabad: IAS officer Ilambarthi K took full additional charge as the Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Thursday after the current commissioner Amrapali Kata has been asked to report to Andhra Pradesh government.
This comes after the high court on Wednesday dismissed a batch of petitions by five IAS officers seeking a stay on the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) order to join the AP cadre.
Who are the IAS, IPS officials transferred to AP?
The Centre ordered the five officials – Amrapali Kata, Donald Rose, Vakati Karuna, Vani Prasad, Srijana Gummalla, who were working in Telangana to join the cadre of the neighbouring Telugu state.
These officers were allocated to Andhra Pradesh at the time of bifurcation but after favourable orders from the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), they worked in Telangana.
The Centre later moved the Telangana High Court against the CAT’s order. The court had asked the Centre to reconsider the representation of the officers according to relevant guidelines.
After reconsidering their representations, the Centre asked the officers to report to the Andhra Pradesh government.
On Tuesday, the officers approached CAT’s Hyderabad branch to stay the order but it refused. They went to the high court, which dismissed the petitions and asked them to join AP cadre.
