New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi shared a warm and friendly moment at an unofficial tea meeting in the Parliament complex on Friday.
This meeting took place after the Lok Sabha was adjourned, one session ahead of the Budget session’s planned end on August 12.
These ministers were present during tea meeting
The Lok Sabha session was unexpectedly ended earlier than scheduled by Speaker Om Birla, who adjourned the House sine die, meaning for an indefinite period. The meeting between the two leaders was held in a relaxed setting, where they greeted each other with a traditional “namaste” and posed for cameras with smiles.
During the tea meeting, Prime Minister Modi was seated on a sofa with Speaker Om Birla beside him. Rahul Gandhi, who is the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, was seated in a chair to PM Modi’s right.
They were joined by several ministers including Ministers Kiren Rijiju, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Chirag Paswan, and Piyush Goyal, as well as opposition MPs Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Kanimozhi, who were seated in the same row as Gandhi. Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh were positioned across from Gandhi.
A server brought in a tea tray while the leaders engaged in conversation. Just a few weeks earlier, the two had exchanged sharp remarks in the Lok Sabha.
