New Delhi: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his three-day visit to the US today, Jyotindra Mehta, a resident of Gujarat, recalled PM’s visit to the United States in the 1990s as a BJP leader. PM Modi visited the US as a BJP leader along with two other leaders, to explore the country and study its democratic processes.
He was invited to the US under an initiative aimed to offer young Indian leaders a deeper understanding of American democracy and governance. During his visit, PM Modi addressed the “Friends of BJP Forum” in New York. The event was attended by a large number of Indians residing in the US and Mehta was among them. Recounting PM Modi’s address, Mehta said that he delivered the speech in English.
‘His proficiency in 3 languages exceptional’
Heaping praise on PM Modi’s linguistic prowess, Mehta said that the Prime Minister was an “accomplished orator” in Gujarati and Hindi but his command over English left everyone spellbound at the event.
“While he is an accomplished orator in Gujarati and Hindi, no one expected him to have such a good command of English. His proficiency in all three languages was exceptional,” Mehta said, stressing that language was never a barrier for PM Modi in expressing his thoughts.
‘Exceptional linguistic skills’
He further said that PM Modi’s ability to communicate clearly and effectively in multiple languages demonstrates his exceptional linguistic skills.
“Even in English, which was not his first language, he conveyed his ideas with impressive clarity,” he said. Mehta further said that the experience highlighted PM Modi’s linguistic versatility along with his clarity of thought.
