Prayagraj: With millions of devotees gathering in Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh 2025, Reliance Industries Limited has launched a special initiative called ‘Teerth Yatri Seva’ to help and support pilgrims.
Under its ‘We Care’ philosophy, Reliance is providing essential services such as free meals, medical assistance, safe transportation, and better connectivity to make the spiritual journey smoother and safer.
Initiative to serve pilgrims
Anant Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries, spoke about the initiative, saying, “It is said that when we serve Teerth Yatris, we too are blessed.” He emphasized that Maha Kumbh is a rare and sacred event, and Reliance is committed to ensuring the well-being of all devotees, especially the elderly and vulnerable.
He added, “At the Maha Kumbh, the world’s largest religious gathering, we have the opportunity to serve and provide safety, comfort, and health services to lakhs of pilgrims.”
Free food and water for devotees
As part of its Anna Seva programme, Reliance is distributing free hot meals and drinking water to pilgrims every day. Volunteers have been stationed at various akharas (religious centers) to assist devotees and serve food to those in need.
Special services for women
Reliance Foundation has set up round-the-clock medical care facilities, including separate wards for men and women, OPD (Outpatient Department) services, and dental care. In recognition of women’s specific needs, the organization is also providing free sanitary napkins to female pilgrims.
Safe and easy transportation for devotees
To assist elderly pilgrims and those with mobility issues, Reliance has introduced electric vehicles and golf carts inside the Kumbh Mela grounds. Additionally, special transport services from Prayagraj to the Sangam (the sacred river confluence) have been arranged to help pilgrims reach the holy site with ease.
Enhanced safety measures
Reliance, in collaboration with the district administration, has introduced life jackets for pilgrims, boatmen, and Jal Police personnel to prevent accidents in the river. These safety measures aim to make the experience secure for all those participating in the sacred dip.
Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL) has set up Campa Ashrams, where devotees can take a break and rest. These rest zones provide a peaceful space for pilgrims to relax before continuing their journey.
Improved connectivity with advanced telecom services
Reliance’s telecom arm, Jio, has upgraded Prayagraj’s network infrastructure by installing new 4G and 5G towers and deploying mobile towers and small cell solutions. Optical fiber has also been laid across important areas to ensure strong and uninterrupted communication for pilgrims, helping them stay connected with their families.
Support for security and crowd management
Reliance is also helping authorities by providing essential infrastructure such as barricades, watchtowers, and drinking water at police booths to support security personnel in managing the massive crowds.
To make these efforts more effective, Reliance is working with prominent spiritual and religious organizations, including Sharada Peeth Math Trust Dwarka, Shri Shankaracharya Utsav Sevalaya Foundation, Niranjani Akhara, Prabhu Premi Sangh Charitable Trust, and Parmarth Niketan Ashram.
