As America votes on Tuesday, all eyes are on Kamala Harris and Donald Trump as everyone wants to know who will be the next President of the USA. What happens if Trump wins the elections, what changes once the Republican Trump government is formed?
America needs determined Republican Leadership at every level of Government to address the core threats to our very survival: Our disastrously Open Border, our weakened Economy, crippling restrictions on American Energy Production, our depleted Military, attacks on the American System of Justice, and much more, reads the Agenda47 Platform of Trump. To Make America Great Again Trump has spelt a forward-looking agenda having 20 promises that his government will accomplish very quickly when he wins the White House and Republican Majorities in the House and Senate, the site claims.
Trump’s promises to voters
Trump has made 20 core promises and they are, to seal the border and stop the migrant invasion, carry out the largest deportation operation in American history, end inflation, make America affordable again, make America the dominant energy producer in the world, by far stop outsourcing, and turn the United States into a manufacturing superpower, large tax cuts for workers, and no tax on tips, defend our constitution, our bill of rights, and our fundamental freedoms.
His promise also includes freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to keep and bear arms, prevent world war three, restore peace in Europe and in the Middle East, and build a great iron dome missile defence shield over our entire country-all made in America, end the weaponization of government against the American people, stop the migrant crime epidemic, demolish the foreign drug cartels, crush gang violence, and lock up violent offenders, rebuild our cities, including Washington dc, making them safe, clean, and beautiful again, strengthen and modernize our military, making it, without question, the strongest and most powerful in the world, keep the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency, fight for and protect social security and Medicare with no cuts, including no changes to the retirement age, among others.
Abortion issue
Though there are many issues in this election in America which will be the reason for voters to vote, one of the most prominent issues among them is abortion. Harris is clearly pro-abortion and she deliberately presents abortion as an issue of freedom. While Trump, appointed three conservative Supreme Court justices during his first term between 2017 and 2021. All of whom voted to end the nationwide right to abortion.
During his initial rallies, Trump had talked about setting a national abortion limit wherein every state should have a certain right to abortion. However, within a few weeks, he withdrew this statement. Now it is possible that some old laws may be used to further restrict abortion.
On Immigration
Trump promises to mount the largest domestic deportation in US history — an operation that could involve detention camps and the National Guard, says GBH. He’d bring back policies he put in place during his first term, like the Remain in Mexico program and Title 42, which placed curbs on migrants on public health grounds. Trump would also revive and expand the travel ban that originally targeted citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries.
It may be noted that after the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, Trump had pledged new “ideological screening” for immigrants to bar “dangerous lunatics, haters, bigots, and maniacs.” He also plans to end birthright citizenship for people born in the U.S. whose parents are both in the country illegally.
International issues
Republican Donald Trump, wants that America’s role in the affairs of the international community should end completely. In such a situation, it is important to mention the issue of imposing duty on China. Trump plans to impose a 20 per cent universal duty on the import of all goods from abroad. Trump has warned that a duty of 60 per cent to 200 per cent can be imposed on China. However, it can be more than this. If he wins then these steps are likely to increase inflation and harm the US economy, feel experts. Also, such steps are likely to lead to retaliation, trade war and destruction of the global economy.
Foreign policy and NATO
It may be noted that America’s commitment to protect friendly countries from enemy countries is also an important issue in this election. As a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), it is the responsibility of the US to come forward to help its other members. According to Article 5 of NATO, if a country attacks a NATO member, it is considered an attack on all members. The US has similar treaties with Japan and South Korea. NATO, led by the US, has provided military and economic aid to Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia.
However, if Trump becomes the President then as indicated by him, his government will stop the aid being given to Ukraine and will put pressure on Kyiv to adopt a peace process according to Russia’s conditions. Regarding the issue of U.S. aid to Ukraine Trump has always maintained that he will continue to “fundamentally reevaluate” the mission and purpose of the NATO alliance if he returns to office. He has even claimed that he will end the war before his inauguration by bringing both sides to the negotiating table.
According to the BBC, Trump has an isolationist foreign policy and wants the US to disentangle itself from conflicts elsewhere in the world. He has also positioned himself as a staunch supporter of Israel but said little about how he would end the war in Gaza.
Similarly, regarding Asia, Trump has said that Taiwan should pay for the security it is getting from the US and experts say that if he becomes president again, the US commitment to Taiwan’s defence may weaken.
