New Delhi: Team India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav is well-known for his comical personality and down-to-earth nature which makes him a fan favourite all the way more. Despite being a high-profile Indian cricketer, he resonates with the general public and specially the Indian cricket fans, which can be seen through his social media posts and whenever he is snapped while being “himself”, whether he is practising or merely spending quality time at home.
The swashbuckling batter is also known for being an ardent Bollywood fan, the references of which he is often seen making during general conversation with his teammates and posts some of those even on his social media handles as well. He recently took a picture of himself to his Instagram handle and shared it while holding the receiver of a telephone. He was trying to imitate a famous pose from the 2000 Bollywood comedy film “Hera Pheri”.
The picture was a reference to a scene in the popular film where a customer mistakenly calls one of the film protagonists “Baburao” portrayed by Paresh Rawal, and enquires about his fish. Baburao, already frustrated by receiving the same calls almost everyday, replies to him that he ate it after frying. Suryakumar, on his Insta story, also wrote the same dialog and asked his fans that what movie is he talking about here.
“Meri macchli (emoticon) ka kya hua? Wo mai mast tel me fry karke khaa gaya. Kaun si movie? (What about my fish? I ate it after frying. Which movie?),” Suryakumar wrote alongside his picture. Recently, he was also seen posting clips from “Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.” on his story and has made several references of legendary MS Dhoni’s biopic (M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story) as well.

Surya to return in SA T20Is
Surya is currently in preparation mode for the upcoming four-match T20I series against South Africa. He recently guided Team India to a 3-0 victory over Bangladesh at home and will be taking a young Indian contingent to the rainbow nation in the coming days. Although trying hard to make a return in red-ball cricket for India, he has become regular in the shortest format for India due to his explosive batting style – a basic requirement of the format.
The BCCI had recently announced the India squad for the South Africa tour which is only a four-match T20I affair and Suryakumar Yadav is set to captain the team starting with the opening clash on November 8 in Durban.
