New Delhi: The spate of heavy rains is seemingly subsiding in various parts of India such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and other states with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting spells of light to moderate rainfall in these areas during the next few days.
In its All India forecast, the IMD said the monsoon trough is south of its normal position at mean sea level and is likely to move in a similar pattern for three to four days. Heavy rainfall has been predicted but in isolated areas of Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, besides the states in the Northeast.
Here’s the complete state-wise weather forecast by IMD:
South India
Widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep, with scattered showers likely in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and isolated areas in Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Interior Karnataka throughout the week.
On Monday, coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam are expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall, while coastal Karnataka and Telangana may also receive very heavy rainfall. Additionally, isolated heavy showers are predicted in Telangana, south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe till September 10, in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from September 8 to 12, and in coastal Karnataka till Wednesday.
West, Central states
West and central India are expected to experience fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall throughout the week. Isolated instances of very heavy rainfall are likely over West Madhya Pradesh on September 11 and 12, east Madhya Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday, Chhattisgarh till Tuesday, and in the Vidarbha region on Monday.
Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is expected over West Madhya Pradesh from September 9 to 12 and again on the 14th, in east Madhya Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday, and in regions such as Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Maharashtra from the 8th to the 12th of September.
North India
Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and east Rajasthan throughout the week, while the rest of the region will likely see isolated to scattered rainfall. This will lead to scattered rainfall in both eastern and western parts of these states, the IMD said.
Very heavy rainfall is predicted in isolated parts of eastern Rajasthan on Thursday and Friday. Heavy rainfall is also likely in parts of Uttar Pradesh from Tuesday to Thursday, in Haryana and western Rajasthan on Monday, and in Uttarakhand during the week. Eastern Uttar Pradesh is also set to witness heavy rains on Tuesday and Wednesday.
East and Northeast India
Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is forecast over Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Sikkim and West Bengal throughout the week. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is also likely in Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar, while Jharkhand and Odisha are expected to see scattered to widespread showers during the same period.
Isolated instances of extremely heavy rainfall are anticipated in Odisha on Monday, with very heavy rainfall likely on Sunday. Jharkhand is expected to receive very heavy rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday, while the Gangetic West Bengal region on Monday.
Heavy rains are also forecast for Assam and Meghalaya on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from Tuesday to Thursday. In addition, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in these northeastern states over the next seven days, in Assam and Meghalaya from Monday to Friday, in Odisha from Sunday to Tuesday, and in Arunachal Pradesh from Tuesday to Thursday.
