New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rainfall in many regions of India over the next seven days and a potential for isolated heavy and very heavy rainfall in certain areas. The warnings are particularly significant for states in northwest, west, central, east and northeast India and the South Peninsular region.
Northwest India
The weather office predicts fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while scattered to fairly widespread showers are expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan in the the week.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Prades till August 19, Punjab on August 14, Uttarakhand from August 14 to 19, West Rajasthan and Haryana-Chandigarh from August till August 16, east Rajasthan from August 15 to 17 and the Jammu division from August 15 to 19. Also, isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely in West Rajasthan and Uttarakhand on August 13 and in East Rajasthan on August 13 and 14.
West & Central India
In the west and central areas, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is very likely in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Konkan & Goa and the Gujarat region. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is expected in Vidarbha, Saurashtra & Kutch, with isolated to scattered rainfall over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada throughout the week. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat on August 14 and in Chhattisgarh till August 16.
East & northeast India
For east and northeast India, the weather deapartment has predicted fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall across the region, with isolated heavy rainfall expected in Arunachal Pradesh from August 13 to 15, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura till August 16, Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim till August 19, Gangetic West Bengal on August 14 and 17, Jharkhand on August 14, 17 and 18 and Odisha from August 13 to 18.
South Peninsular India
South India is also expected to experience fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, especially over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep and South Interior Karnataka. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is likely in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana and Coastal & North Interior Karnataka throughout the week.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely South Interior Karnataka on August 16 and 17, Rayalaseema from August 14 to 17, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal from August 14 to 17, Kerala & Mahe on August 16 and 17 and Lakshadweep on August 14. That apart, isolated very heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala & Mahe till August 15 and south interior Karnataka on August 14 and 15.
