New Delhi: The monsoon trough on its western end is currently north of its normal position and the eastern end is near its normal position causing rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said as it predicted very heavy rains in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
This is due to the deep depression over the Gangetic West Bengal moving westwards across north Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand before it slowly weakens into a depression over the next 24 hours, the weather office said.
