New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted isolated extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in the West and Central parts of the country in the next five days. Issuing a press release, the department further said that light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in another part of the region during the same time.

“Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm & lightning very likely over the region during next 5 days. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely over Chhattisgarh on August 2; East Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra on August 2 and August 3; West Madhya Pradesh on August 3 and August 4, Gujarat Region, Konkan & Goa on August 3,” the weather department said.
It added, “Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh during August 2-5, Chhattisgarh on August 3, Konkan and Goa during August 2- 4, Madhya Maharashtra during August 2– 6, Gujarat State, East Madhya Pradesh during August 2 – 4.” The weather department also said that heavy rainfall is also expected in some parts of Vidarbha on August 2 and August 3; East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh on August 7 and 8; Marathwada on August 3 August 4, Konkan and Goa during 5 – 7.
According to IMD, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning can also be seen in other parts of the states during the week in some states of Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan; isolated to scattered, scattered rain can also be witnessed over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi during the week, it added.
The weather department has also predicted fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall over coastal part of Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka and isolated to scattered rain in parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh Telangana and Rayalaseema during next 5 days.
