New Delhi: After 17 months in custody, Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia’s release on bail has sparked a wave of renewed confidence within the party. The senior leader, who faced intense scrutiny and accusations related to the Delhi liquor policy case, expressed unwavering faith in the Supreme Court’s ability to deliver justice to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is also facing legal challenges.
Sisodia, in his first interview since regaining his freedom, acknowledged the “toughest times” faced by the AAP leadership amid the crackdown by central agencies. However, he highlighted the unwavering unity displayed by party workers, leaders and the people of Delhi, emphasising that this solidarity is their greatest strength.
“We have full hope from the Supreme Court. I have also got justice from the Supreme Court. The leadership of Aam Aadmi Party went through the toughest times but the party workers’ leaders and the people of Delhi have shown unity, and this unity is our strength,” Sisodia said.
The Supreme Court’s bail order, which includes conditions requiring Sisodia to appear before the CBI and ED offices every Monday and Thursday, has not drained his stance against the investigating agencies, whom AAP has accused of working hand to hand with Bharatiya Janata Party. He stated that there is “no demotivation” and that the crisis has only strengthened the party’s resolve.
“The Supreme Court has said in its order that I have to appear before the CBI and ED offices every Monday and Thursday between 10 and 11 am. Today morning I first went to the CBI office and then to the ED office and met the IOs of both,” he told ANI.
The AAP’s confidence is further bolstered by Kejriwal’s petition challenging the Delhi High Court’s dismissal of his appeal against a CBI arrest. This legal challenge, now being considered by the Supreme Court, represents a significant step in the party’s fight against the allegations. “There is no demotivation. When there is a crisis people show more unity strongly. I think people had anger and resolution during these times. There was no breakaway of the party during the crisis. Delhi government worked hard for the people of Delhi during the tough times,” he added.
