Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Yadav sparked a political debate in Bihar. In response to a question about Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar joining the grand alliance, Lalu Yadav said, “If he wants to come, I will take him along.”
Union Minister and JDU leader Lallan Singh responded to Lalu’s offer, saying, “What Lalu ji says or does not say, that is for Laluji to know. We are in NDA and will remain in NDA.” Lallan Singh’s response came as a clarification of the position of Janata Dal-United (JDU), of which he is a prominent leader. According to Singh, JDU has a clear stance of remaining in National Democratic Alliance (NDA), despite Lalu’s invitation for Nitish Kumar to join the grand alliance.
What Lalu Yadav said
Lalu Yadav’s comments have raised eyebrows in the political circles of Bihar. He also went on to say that Nitish Kumar should come together and work alongside them. Lalu said, “Nitish Kumar always runs away, we will forgive him,” signaling his openness to reconcile and bring Nitish back into the fold of the grand alliance.
The political heat in Bihar increased further when BJP leaders responded to Lalu’s statements. They made it clear that Lalu’s dreams of Nitish returning to the RJD fold would not come true. The BJP dismissed Lalu’s remarks and said, “Nitish is not going to forgive Lalu-Tejaswi now.” The BJP also suggested that Lalu should not have any hopes of Nitish returning to the RJD.
RJD MLA Bhai Virendra, who is considered close to Lalu Yadav, also commented on the situation. He said that if JDU expresses a desire to break ties with BJP, he would be ready to form an alliance with Nitish Kumar again.
Tejashwi Yadav’s remarks
Earlier, Tejashwi Yadav, RJD’s leader and Lalu Yadav’s son, claimed that the end of the Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar was inevitable in the new year. He expressed his belief that “the new year will see a new crop and a new government which will be sensitive towards the needs of the people for education, income, medicine, hearing and action by the government.”
Tejashwi also said, “In the new year, my uncle Nitish Kumar will be thrown out of power. He has been in power for 20 years. If the same crop is sown for such a long time, the soil gets ruined. Therefore, it is time for Nitish ji and NDA to go.”
