Wayanad: Wayanad has been hit by massive landslides and several people have lost their lives in the tragedy. For the past 2 days, the Army, teams of NDRF and the SDRF are engaged in continuous rescue and relief operations. Now a heartbreaking video has emerged from the district, showing several ambulances carrying the bodies of the dead.
Convoy of ambulances passes by hazy road
Following the death of at least 276 people in the landslides in Wayanad, the medical teams were called in to assist in the rescue and relief efforts. This included medical teams which were supposed to treat the injured and then help in transporting the dead to the morgues.
In the video that is fast going viral on social media, a convoy of ambulances (which includes some 8 to 10 of these) can be seen passing by a hazy road. Cars can be seen lined up on both sides of the road and an eerie silence pervades the entire area. A lone person with an umbrella can be seen standing on the side of the road.
Death toll touches 276, CM to hold meeting
The death toll in Wayanad has reached 276 and several people are said to be still missing. The Army continues rescue operations and has managed to rescue at least 1,500 people. However 191 people are said to be still missing.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan will hold an all-party meeting on Thursday regarding the natural disaster. State ministers camping in the district, MLAs from Wayanad and political party leaders will participate in the meeting, the district administration said.
