New Delhi: A shocking incident came to light on train 22181 Jabalpur-Hazrat Nizamuddin Gondwana Express travelling from Jabalpur to Delhi. Between Sagar and Damoh, water suddenly started leaking from the roof of the AC coach. A stream of water began pouring from the roof of the M-3 AC coach. It caused significant trouble for the passengers. When water started leaking from the roof, passengers vacated their seats and stood up. The passengers recorded a video of the entire incident, which went viral on social media.
As soon as the train left Jabalpur, water began leaking from the roof. By the time it reached near Katni, the leakage intensified to the point of flowing like a waterfall, making it difficult for passengers inside the coach. To avoid the water, passengers took various measures, with some sitting on the edges and others using sheets provided on the train to protect themselves.
Railway officials struggle to contain leak
Passengers complained to the railway officials, who made several attempts to stop the water, but the problem continued. Even when the train reached Damoh and Sagar stations, the railway officials attended to the issue, but the problem continued. The luggage of the passengers was also drenched. One passenger said that they felt a sigh of relief upon reaching Delhi.
Railways launches probe
The video of water flowing from the coach of the Gondwana Express has gone viral on social media. Following the video’s viral spread, the railway administration took action. According to Harshit Srivastava, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Railways, the video is from September 9.
After the Gondwana Express, which was travelling from Jabalpur to Hazrat Nizamuddin, reached Delhi, repair work on the M-3 coach began immediately. Srivastava said that the coach would not be put back into service until it is fully repaired. The Railway Department has launched an investigation into the incident and will take strict action against any employees found guilty.
