Though Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Ganeshotsav or Vinayaka Chaturthi, is celebrated nationwide, it holds special significance in Maharashtra as one of the state’s largest festivals. On the fifth day of the festival, over 2,500 Ganesh idols were immersed in Mumbai.
The Chief Justice hails from Maharashtra, the state that celebrates Ganeshotsav with maximum fervour. Grand processions are held in Mumbai and across Maharashtra on days when people bid adieu to the deity by immersing their idols in water.
