Hoshiarpur: In a tragic incident near Hoshiarpur in Punjab, an Innova car was swept away by the strong current of water.
The incident took place while the car carrying 10 people was crossing the rivulet Jaijon Cho.
Two persons still missing
Out of 10, seven bodies, including two women, have been recovered so far. One person was rescued safely and is undergoing treatment at a hospital. Two persons are still missing.
All the 10 occupants of the car are reportedly the residents of Himachal Pradesh. They were going to attend a wedding in Punjab’s Nawanshahr.
Heavy rainfall in Punjab
Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagir Singh said, “Seven bodies, including those of two women, have been recovered from the rivulet.”
Efforts are underway to trace the remaining two persons.
The river was swollen due to heavy rainfall that lashed several parts of Punjab.
