Wall of Agra DM’s residence collapses; 10-year-old girl killed, 4 injured

Agra: A tragic accident took place in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, when the wall of the District Magistrate’s (DM) residence collapsed. A 10-year-old girl died whereas four other people suffered injuries in the accident.  

The incident happened in the Rakabganj police station area on Sunday evening around 7 pm.

How the trapped people were rescued

According to reports, the wall, located behind the DM’s residence, collapsed suddenly, trapping five people from the nearby Mohanpura Colony. The colony is situated adjacent to the DM’s residence, and these five people, including two elderly persons and three girls, were standing near the wall when it fell. 

The loud noise of the wall collapsing alerted the entire neighbourhood, and many rushed to the spot to help.

By the time the police arrived, locals had already pulled the injured from under the rubble. All five were rushed to Sarojini Naidu Medical College in an ambulance, where doctors began treatment immediately. 

Tragically, one of the injured, a young girl named Aarti, could not be saved and passed away during treatment.

Among the four injured, three are in critical condition, while one person is stable. Authorities have assured that all necessary medical assistance is being provided to the injured. 

Probe underway

Upon receiving the information, senior officials, including the District Magistrate and police personnel, visited the spot to assess the situation. Cantt MLA GS Dharmesh also arrived to take stock of the situation.

The cause of the wall collapse remains unclear and an investigation has been initiated.
