New Delhi: As Salman Khan faces renewed death threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, a resurfaced speech by actor Vivek Oberoi praising the Bishnoi community has gone viral. The timing of the video couldn’t be more specific, as the Bishnoi community holds blackbucks sacred—an animal at the heart of Salman Khan’s controversial hunting case.
The video of the Company actor reportedly delivered last year, has sent fans into a frenzy amid escalating tensions. In the clip, Vivek spoke with admiration about the Bishnoi community’s deep connection to wildlife, particularly their care for animals.
What did Vivek Oberoi say about the Bishnoi community?
He mentioned, “In every household, including mine, we feed cow’s milk to kids. But there’s only one community in the whole world—the Bishnoi community—where if a fawn’s mother dies, the Bishnoi mothers take it in their laps and feed them milk just like they feed their own children. You won’t find this anywhere else in the world.”

Lawrence Bishnoi’s threats to Salman Khan
Coming back to Salman Khan’s legal troubles, his tiff with the Bishnoi community began back in 1998 during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain when he was accused of hunting and killing two blackbucks in Rajasthan. These animals are considered sacred by the Bishnoi community. Salman was sentenced to five years in jail for the incident but was later granted bail.
Despite his legal battles, the issue resurfaced in 2018 when Lawrence began issuing threats against the actor. The intensity of the threats has only grown over the years. In 2023, a chilling incident occurred when Salman’s father, Salim Khan, found a death threat letter. Lawrence Bishnoi, currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail, has made it clear in interviews that his ultimate goal is to kill Salman. Earlier this year, shots were even fired at Salman’s Mumbai residence.
