Chennai: Actor-politician Vijay’s Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) conference’s has ignited a political firestorm, with Vijay’s promise to share ruling power putting the DMK in a predicament. Congress Party Tamil Nadu unit’s General Secretary Saravanan has written to Chief Minister and DMK chief MK Stalin, seeking cabinet representation for coalition parties.
Saravanan’s letter emphasized the DMK’s history of power sharing, urging Stalin to give coalition parties cabinet representation, aligning with the people’s expectations. Earlier, ruling DMK’s ally VCK leader Adhav Arjuna’s statement on power sharing, have relieved the AIADMK ahead of the 2026 assembly elections on allaince equation. Arjuna’s questioning of VCK founder leader Thol Thirumavalavan’s eligibility for Deputy Chief Minister sparked controversy, with DMK MP A Raja condemning his words as defamatory.
Thirumavalavan clarified that power sharing has long been a VVIP demand. Vijay’s assurance to share power with trusted allies was seen as an attempt to disrupt the DMK’s coalition. Congress MP Manickam Thakur welcomed Vijay’s speech, expressing support for a coalition government.
