Nagpur: Congress leader, Priyanka Gandhi, looking to make her election debut, was holding a roadshow in Nagpur on Sunday when she came face-to-face with some BJP workers waving party flags but stood apart was her witty response to the rival party men.
Gandhi responded with a smile and wished the BJP supporters all the best for the Assembly election in Maharashtra on Wednesday. She then went on to proclaim that the Maha Vikas Aghadi bloc of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP’s Sharad Pawar faction would emerge victorious before raising victory slogans.
Nagpur, a BJP stronghold and home to the headquarters of its ideological parent, the RSS, has been a key political centre. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has held the Nagpur Lok Sabha seat since 2014, with the BJP currently controlling four of the city’s six Assembly segments.

Priyanka Gandhi’s electoral debut
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, contesting her first election in the Wayanad bypoll, led a massive roadshow on the final day of campaigning ahead of the November 20 polls in Maharashtra. The procession passed through the Nagpur West and Nagpur Central constituencies, attracting a large crowd. Nagpur West is held by the Congress, while Nagpur Central has been under BJP control since 2009.
As her vehicle made its way through the crowd, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra waved to people gathered on the roadside and on rooftops. Towards the end of the roadshow, a group of people waving BJP flags and chanting party slogans gathered on a building along the route. In response, Congress supporters began raising their own slogans.
Taking the microphone, Gandhi addressed those waving BJP flags, saying, “Friends in the BJP, wish you all the best for the election. But it is the Maha Vikas Aghadi that will win.” Her remark was met with loud cheers from the Congress supporters.
