Chittorgarh: A major accident was narrowly averted on Friday afternoon in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district when vehicles in Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari’s convoy collided on National Highway-27.
The Deputy CM, who was on her way to attend a event in Kanera area of Nimbahera sub-division, escaped unhurt in the accident. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Cow suddenly appeared in front of vehicles
The accident took place when a cow suddenly appeared in front of the convoy near Suratpura village. As the vehicle following Diya Kumari’s car applied sudden brakes to avoid hitting the cow, the other vehicles in the convoy could not react in time, leading to multiple collisions. While the impact caused damage to the vehicles, the passengers, including the Deputy CM, were unharmed.
The incident took place as the Deputy CM was traveling from Mandalgarh to Kanera to attend an official function. The sudden arrival of the cow on the highway was unexpected and although the drivers tried to avoid an accident, the sudden braking led to a chain reaction of collisions within the convoy.
Damaged vehicles cleared from road
A large number of local residents gathered at the spot. Authorities, including Begu Tehsildar Dharmendra Swami and Begu Police Station Officer Ravindra Singh Charan, quickly arrived at the spot to manage the situation. The damaged vehicles were cleared from the road with the help of a crane to restore traffic flow..
