New Delhi: A shocking incident of dying by suicide has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi where a principal of a nursing college took her own life by hurling herself in front of a speeding train near the Tarna overbridge on Monday evening.
After the GRP received information about the incident, the personnel swung into action and arrived at the scene. They took the body in their possession and sent it for post-mortem examination. A probe has been launched to ascertain the reasons behind the suicide.
Reports said that Sushmita Singh, aged 30, was the principal of a nursing college in the Babatpur area. She stayed with her eight-year-old daughter in the Shivpur area of Varanasi. Her parents live in Daulatabad, Azamgarh district, while her in-laws are based in Chandvak, Jaunpur district. Her husband, Saurabh Singh, is a chemist in Sikkim.
Police seize deceased’s mobile phones, examine call details
As per local residents, around 6pm, Sushmita was talking on her mobile phone as she reached the railway tracks. All of a sudden, seeing the approaching train, she hurled herself in front of it, sustaining severe injuries all over her body. The police were called immediately. She was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Sushmita’s mobile phones have been seized by the police and her call details and chats are being examined by them. The reason for the suicide is yet to be established. The police pointed out that the matter will become clear only after the post-mortem examination and mobile data probe.
