The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very heavy rainfall due to a deep depression forming in the Arabian Sea, which could turn into a storm on August 30. As a result, Gujarat is expected to experience continuous rain for the next six days, with no immediate relief in sight.
IMD’s weather forecast for Gujarat
Though the intensity of rain has slightly decreased on August 29 compared to the past two days, a deep depression remains settled over the Saurashtra-Kutch region. Moving at a slow pace of 3 kilometres per hour, the depression is currently located 60 km from Bhuj and 80 km from Nalia. The system is expected to develop into a storm on August 30.
The IMD has issued a red alert for the Saurashtra-Kutch areas, including Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Morbi, Dwarka, and Kutch. Other regions are under an orange alert.
