Uttarakhand’s four villages get ‘Best Tourism Village’ award, CM praises villagers

Dehradun: Four villages of Uttarakhand will be awarded the Best Tourism Village Award on International Tourism Day by the Union Ministry of Tourism for promoting rural tourism. Furthermore, this award distribution ceremony will be held in New Delhi on 27 September. Seemingly, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s campaign to make Uttarakhand a tourist state is bearing fruit. He also congratulated the villagers for achieving this feat.

Among these chosen villages, Jakhol village will be recognized for adventure tourism, Soupi for agricultural tourism, and Harshil and Gunji villages for their vibrant village life.

This competition evaluates villages for their commitment to preserving cultural and natural heritage

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, organizes the Best Tourist Village Competition annually at the national level. This competition evaluates villages based on their commitment to preserving cultural and natural heritage, promoting community-based values and lifestyles, and ensuring economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Entries are invited on these themes. This year, four villages from Uttarakhand have been selected for the award based on their entries.

Gunji village in Pithoragarh district is selected in Vibrant Village category

Among the villages selected for the awards, Jakhol village in Uttarkashi district has been selected for the Best Tourist Village Award for adventure tourism, Harshil village for the Vibrant Village category, Gunji village in Pithoragarh district for the Vibrant Village category, and Soupi village in Nainital district for agricultural tourism. The Union Tourism Ministry will present these awards on International Tourism Day.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has congratulated all the villagers and praised their efforts. He emphasized that the general public plays a crucial role in the state’s tourism development.
