Weather in Uttarakhand has changed once again
The weather in Uttarakhand has changed once again, bringing snowfall and rain to various parts of the state. On Wednesday, the high-altitude areas, including Badrinath Dham and Hemkund Sahib in Chamoli district, experienced fresh snowfall, while the lower areas witnessed rain. This sudden change in weather has resulted in a significant drop in temperature, making the cold even more intense.
Drop in temperature, further intensifying the cold
By issuing an alert, the Indian meteorological department (IMD) Dehradun has warned that snowfall may continue in high altitude areas for the next few days. Travelers and local residents have been advised to be cautious. The lower areas, including Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Pauri, Almora, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, experienced light rain, resulting in a drop in temperature and increased humidity, further intensifying the cold.
Snowfall in Gangotri and Yamunotri
The Uttarkashi District Headquarters and all Tehsil areas are currently experiencing light rainfall, and light snowfall is occurring at Gangotri Dham and Yamunotri Dham. In light of the weather conditions, the District Magistrate has issued instructions for various precautionary measures. Travelers and trekkers should be informed about the weather and advised to stop at safe places in case of rain or snowfall. Adequate machinery and operators should be deployed at sensitive points on the National Highway.
Weather will continue to change for the next four days, IMD
According to the Meteorological Center, the weather will continue to change for the next four days. Rain and snowfall are expected in many districts, particularly in areas with an altitude of more than 3200 meters. Cold conditions are likely to worsen due to rain in the plains. The Western Disturbance will remain active from February 26 to March 1, affecting the weather across the state.
A yellow alert for rain and snowfall for many districts
A yellow alert for rain and snowfall has been issued for Uttarkashi, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar districts. An orange alert has been issued for February 28, warning of heavy snowfall and rain that may disrupt daily life in both hilly and plain areas. Roads in some areas may be closed due to heavy rain and snowfall on February 28.
Tourists are advised to plan their journeys according to the weather conditions
The Meteorological Department has advised travelers to be cautious and plan their journeys according to the weather conditions. The state administration has started taking precautionary measures in response to the weather warnings. BRO and the Public Works Department have been instructed to clear snow from the roads promptly.
