Dehradun: Uttarakhand’s all the districts are again on a yellow alert for rains and thunderstorms on Tuesday except Haridwar. As the spell of rain continues in the state, heavy rains occurred in some parts of Dehradun and Mussoorie on Monday afternoon as a yellow alert was sounded by IMD for Garhwal’s three districts-Pauri, Tehri and Dehradun.
Along with this, heavy to very heavy rains are predicted in some parts of Kumaon’s Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Almora districts.
Weather suddenly changed in state’s capital on Monday afternoon
After a bright sun in the morning, the weather took a sudden turn with cloudy sky in Dehradun and Mussoorie on Monday afternoon, after which, a heavy spell of rains drenched both the city.
Possibility of light to moderate rains in many districts
On Tuesday, light to moderate rains are possible at some places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Tehri and Chamoli districts. Whereas, there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder in several places Pauri, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Nainital, Almora, and Udham Singh Nagar districts.
104 roads closed due to mudslide after rains
1o4 roads in the state are closed due to debris after rain including 41 state roads. This blockage of roads at several places has halted the movement and caused tremendous problems to the locals and pilgrims/tourists in the state. According to the state emergency operation center, efforts are being made to open the closed roads. Additionally, Sonprayag-Gaurikund-Kedarnath highway has been restored for pedestrians and small vehicles after the cloudburst incident on 31 July.
Prediction for rains in Dehradun-Nainital today
As the spell of rains continues in Uttarakhand, there are chances of thunderstorms in Dehradun and Nainital on Tuesday. According to the Director of Meteorological Center, Bikram Singh, there may be heavy rains and thundershowers along with lightning in Dehradun, Nainital and Champawat today. With a yellow alert sounded in most of the districts of the state, there is a possibility of heavy showers in the state in the next few days.
Pilgrim footfall in four Char Dham shrines
On Monday, 2375 pilgrims visited Badrinath shrine, Kedarnath saw 1643, Gangotri witnessed 2391 pilgrims and 3212 pilgrims visited Yamunotri shrine.
