Dehradun: The intense spells of rain will continue in many districts of Uttarakhand on Thursday as well. Moreover, light to moderate rain can be seen in most districts of the state. Today, on Thursday, the Meteorological Department has put the capital Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri districts in the Garhwal division in the possibility of heavy rains in most of the areas.
Light to moderate rains have also been predicted
In Kumaon division, heavy rains are expected in Almora, Nainital, Champawat, Bageshwar, Udham Singh Nagar districts. On the other hand, light to moderate rains are also expected at several places in Pithoragarh district. On the other hand, very heavy rains are forecasted for Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri in Garhwal division. Apart from this, light to moderate rains have also been predicted in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts.
Heavy rains in capital Dehradun
In many districts of the state including the capital Dehradun, the sky remained cloudy since Wednesday morning and the most parts of the city witnessed heavy spells of rain amidst the dark clouds. Light drizzle was also seen in the morning at some places. As per the Meteorological Department, there may be shorter spells of rain at many places for the next 24 hours in Dehradun.
People are advised to take precaution
The IMD has predicted that heavy rains could lead to rockfalls and mudslides in many areas. Intense rainfall may also cause flooding and a sudden rise in water levels of rivulets, resulting in bank erosion, overflow, and flash floods. Residents in landslide-prone areas should remain vigilant. Pilgrims and tourists traveling to Char Dham or other locations in the state are advised to stay alert and watch for steep slopes while traveling.

The heavy rains have also impacted the Char Dham Yatra, with a significant drop in the number of pilgrims due to frequent landslides affecting the All-weather Road. On Wednesday Badrinath saw 782 pilgrims, Kedarnath had 4, Gangotri welcomed 425, and 232 visited the Yamunotri shrine.
