Dehradun: On Wednesday, Uttarakhand’s most of the districts saw heavy downpour along with lightning and thunderstorm. Light rains have continued across the state. Late in the evening, snowfall also occurred on the high peaks of Badrinath Dham.
Along with this, it has been raining continuously since yesterday evening in the areas around Yamunotri shrine including Kharshaligaon, Janakichatti, Narayan Puri, Phoolchatti, Janakichatti.
Mussoorie received heavy rains on Wednesday
Since Uttarkashi district was under a yellow alert, intermittent rain has been continuing in the Barkot tehsil area since Tuesday night. Moreover, tourist spot Mussoorie received heavy rain on Wednesday and it has led to the city blanketed in dense fog with a sharp fall in temperature, increasing cold in the area. This has been the reason, tourists visiting Mall Road and nearby areas faced many troubles amid rains.
Weather forecast on Thursday
According to the forecast issued by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun, there is a possibility of light to moderate rains with partial clouds in Uttarkashi, Haridwar, Dehradun, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pauri Garhwal and Bageshwar. The possibility of hailstorm has also been predicted. Weather will remain dry in other districts. In the meantime, the temperature in the morning and evening in the state is likely to be between 23 to 24 degrees. In the afternoon, the temperature may be around 34-35 degrees due to the bright sun.
Monsoon is to get week in Uttarakhand
As the monsoon is in its last leg in the state, there is a possibility of a decrease in the rainfall for the next few days. Apart from light drizzle at some places, the weather is expected to remain normal throughout the state. According to the recent forecast by IMD, the weather will remain dry in the state till 23 September. Director, IMD, Dehradun, Bikram Singh said that monsoon has weakened in the state. Apart from one or two rounds of rain at some places, there is no possibility of any major change in weather in the coming days.
