Dehradun: According to the Indian Meteorological department prediction in Uttarakhand, the districts in state’s upper regions may witness rainfall along with snowfall in higher hills in coming days. Whereas, the plain areas are to experience dry weather with the onset of winters.
Due to this, the mercury may plunge increasing the cold in the state. In Uttarakhand, the weather department has predicted light to moderate rains with thundershowers in five districts Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh.
Snowfall in high Himalayan regions
Recently, snowfall occurred in the high Himalayan regions of the state, due to which the temperature in the lower regions has come down. The mountainous regions are experiencing a cold weather whereas in the plains, the effect of cold is being seen in the morning and evening.
There are chances of rain in the five hilly districts today
As per the IMD prediction, there will be a change in the weather in the hilly districts of the state on Monday. There are chances of light rain in some areas of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts. Due to this, the temperature in the plains will also be affected. Due to the recent snowfall on the high peaks, the effect of cold has increased in the plains. It is expected that the cold will increase further in the coming days.
Chances of rain and snowfall before Diwali
According to the Meteorological Department, due to the activation of mild western disturbance in the last week of October, there may be rain in most parts of the state as well as snowfall in the mountainous regions. After which, the cold is expected to increase due to a drop of 4 to 5 degrees Celsius in temperature. Therefore, there can be the chances of heavy rains before the festival of Diwali falling on the last day of October.
