Dehradun: Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited has set up a special control room to ensure uninterrupted power supply in view of the celebration of Diwali festival in the city. Senior officers of the UPCL have been tasked to monitor the power supply in the city.
Managing director of the UPCL Anil Kumar has issued strict instructions to the officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the city till October 31. All arrangements have been put in place for uninterrupted power supply, Kumar told reporters.
Special control room at the UPCL headquarters
The special control room will be set up at the level of the UPCL headquarters. Mayur Dev, an engineer of the UPCL, has been made nodal officer for the special control room. Sources said it is natural that there will be complaints regarding power arrangements during the celebration of Deepawali festival in the city.
Ensure Prompt resolution of complaints regarding power supply
If a complaint regarding power supply reaches the UPCL office, the special control room immediately swings into action to solve the problem. According to him, the nodal officer Mayur Dev has been made responsible to ensure prompt resolution of all such complaints reaching the UPCL office from different parts of the city.
Teams of UPCL on high alert mode
In the control room, a helpline number 1912 will be available for receiving the complaints regarding power supply. Any consumer can call this number to collect information about power supply in any locality. All teams of the UPCL, deployed in different parts of the city, have been put on high alert mode. The teams will work on war footing to ensure uninterrupted power supply on Deepawali.
Transformers are being monitored in view of the chances of overloading
Simultaneously, all transformers are being monitored in view of the possible situation of overloading. The UPCL is taking all care to avoid any chance of mismanagement in power supply on Deepawali festival. The condition of insulators, which are applied in the power, is also being examined regularly. Sub-divisional and junior engineers have asked to remain present in their areas concerned.
