Haldwani: Nainital police have caught an unusual thief who used to steal while wearing girls’ clothes and would leave apology notes if he found nothing to steal.
The police in Haldwani’s Mukhani police station area have solved this shocking case and arrested Rajkumar Rathore, a cunning thief. His unique strategy of dressing in girls’ clothing had helped him evade capture until now, according to the police.
SSP Nainital made a disclosure in the theft case
Nainital SSP Prahlad Narayan Meena said that the accused had stolen gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs of rupees from the house of Deependra Chandra Pandey, a resident of Shiv Vihar, between November 13 and 15, 2024. After a masked man was seen in the CCTV footage, the police started a thorough investigation and finally arrested Rajkumar from Kusumkheda area. The police also recovered stolen jewellery worth Rs 4.8 lakh from him.
This thief used to wear girls’ clothes during theft
Police investigation revealed that Rajkumar used to wear girls’ clothes during the theft so that his identity could be hidden. The interesting thing is that he used to write an apology slogan on the houses from which he could not find anything to steal and then leave. This unique act of his was surprising even for the police. The accused has committed several thefts in the past and has been dodging the police by adopting different methods every time. However, this time his cleverness did not work in front of the police and he was arrested. The police are now investigating the case in depth so that other crimes of the accused can also be revealed.
Police recovered stolen jewellery worth Rs 4.8 lakh from this thief
Nainital police arrested this clever thief with stolen gold jewellery worth about Rs. 4 lakh 80 thousand. In this case, sections 331(4)/317(2) BNS have been added to the charge. On interrogation the accused told that he was roaming around to sell stolen goods. The accused has also gone to jail in theft cases earlier.
