Mussoorie: A new dimension is set to enhance Uttarakhand’s tourism sector, a state known for its natural beauty and spiritual solace. This time, the focus is on Star Tourism. As per the government’s plans, tourists will soon be able to stargaze through the huts with glass roofs which will be constructed in Mussoorie, the queen of the mountains, and Ukhimath, the winter seat of Kedarnath.
During this time, tourists will not only enjoy stargazing but also savour the local cuisine. According to the state tourism department, this new tourism activity is expected to create employment opportunities at the local level.
Star-tourism, a new dimension in tourism
Tourism and pilgrimage are vital to Uttarakhand’s economy, and new dimensions are continually being added to the sector. Following eco-tourism, village tourism, astro tourism, and wellness tourism, preparations for star tourism are now underway. Uttarakhand, known for its natural beauty and clean environment, offers captivating views of constellations from its high-altitude villages. Considering this, a blueprint for star tourism is being developed.
Will be named as ‘Sleeping with the stars’
Uttarakhand’s tourism minister, Satpal Maharaj, has announced that the state’s star tourism initiative will be called “Sleeping with the Stars.” Officials have been directed to prepare an action plan for this. Glass-roofed huts will be constructed at George Everest in Mussoorie and Ukhimath in Rudraprayag district, providing tourists with stunning views of the stars. Other suitable locations will also be identified, especially in rural areas that are safe from all perspectives.
Locals will be the part of this initiative
Locals will also be associated with this initiative as it will be run by the people of the respective villages. These villagers will also serve local cuisine to the tourists coming for star tourism. Additionally, these star tourism activities will be organised especially in summers.
